Washington DC

Washington DC

Come to America's capital, birthplace of the United States Declaration of Independence! The Constitution! The Washington Capitals and the Washington Wizards! Home to the United States Congress, consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Learn about America's founding fathers and the precepts of democracy in America, surrounded by some of its most impressive and poignant architecture, including the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress.

Situated on the Potomac River, George Washington chose this location to be the capital of the thirteen founding states because of its central location and proximity to prosperous Georgetown.
